New Details on Biometric Passports
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that a delegation headed by Minister Arpine Sargsyan has visited Harlem to familiarize themselves with the process of producing passport templates. The printing of biometric passports has commenced.
It is noted that we plan for biometric passports to be available to citizens in autumn 2026. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this while presenting the appearance and content of the new Armenian biometric passport alongside Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan.
“Along with the introduction of biometric passports, we will implement a contactless passing model at border crossing points, allowing holders of biometric passports to cross borders at airports and other border checkpoints through scanning their passport, without human contact,” he stated.
