Military Operations Must Be Stopped, Lavrov Says
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that the United States must cease military operations against Iran, rather than focus on issues related to the Strait of Hormuz. He made this declaration during a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
According to Lavrov, if Washington insists that normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz will resume after the cessation of military operations, this essentially highlights the core issue. He argues that the matter is not just about demanding actions from Iran but, first and foremost, about stopping military actions.
Lavrov also recalled U.S. President Donald Trump's statement, which claimed that navigation would return to normal regime in the strait following the end of military actions. Lavrov presented this idea as a justification for the necessity of halting military operations first to stabilize the situation.
He emphasized that it is the cessation of military actions that is the condition under which the normal functioning of the Strait of Hormuz can be restored. His remarks come amid ongoing discussions on regional tensions and the security of international transportation.
