Production Activity of 'Igith' Dairy Products Suspended Due to Food Safety Risks
The Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia conducted an inspection at the dairy production facility belonging to 'Igith' LLC, located in Shirak Province, village of Azatana. During the inspection, they sampled the 'Yogurt 2.5%' product and sent it for laboratory testing, which revealed that dangerous food products were being produced.
According to the test results, the sample of 'Yogurt 2.5%' did not meet the standards set by the Technical Regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union regarding the fatty acid composition of dairy fat. Specific ratios of methyl esters of fatty acids, such as oleic acid (C18:1) to myristic acid (C14:0), and linoleic acid (C18:2) to myristic acid (C14:0), among others, were found to be inconsistent with the regulations.
As a result of this finding, the head of the Food Safety Inspectorate decided to suspend the production activity of the dairy products facility. The producer was issued an order to prohibit the sale of the batch, withdraw it from the market, and either destroy it or dispose of it appropriately.
