US Faces Risk of Tomahawk Missile Deficit

The United States has used more than a quarter of its stockpile of Tomahawk cruise missiles during a month-long military operation against Iran. This information comes from The Washington Post, citing sources familiar with the situation.

According to the report, a significant portion of the over 850 missiles was utilized in the initial days of the operation, which was dubbed "Epic Fury." Experts estimate that at the beginning of the conflict, the U.S. Navy had approximately 3,000 to 4,500 such missiles at its disposal. Meanwhile, the annual production of these missiles is limited to just a few hundred units. The production of a single missile from the latest generation can take up to two years and costs around $3.6 million. Last year's defense budget allocated funding for only 57 units.

Mark Canciani, a representative from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), stated that the use of more than 800 missiles could lead to a significant deficit. He assessed that replenishing these stocks could take years.
