Iran's Foreign Ministry Issues Statement
Spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, announced that Washington has met with the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, ahead of planned negotiations with Iran. According to him, the American side also had discussions with the Omani foreign minister on the same day.
As reported by IRNA, Baghaei noted that the U.S. has been presented with Tehran's official position regarding the nuclear program, the lifting of sanctions, and the framework of any future agreements. The Iranian side emphasized that negotiations should proceed with a clearly defined agenda.
It was reported by Iranian sources the day before that Tehran has formulated 'red lines' for dialogue with the U.S. According to these lines, discussions can only pertain to the nuclear issue, and the cessation of uranium enrichment is not up for consideration. Additionally, regional issues and the missile program will not be included in the negotiation agenda. Tehran has expressed willingness to consider only those proposals that are related to the nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions.
