Former Syunik Governor Ordered to Confiscate Immovable and Movable Property
The Anti-Corruption Court has accepted the petition of the General Prosecutor's Office regarding the confiscation of property of illegal origin. The Property Confiscation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office has submitted a request to the court to confiscate from former Syunik Governor and former Member of the National Assembly Vahe Jakobyan and his affiliated persons—his wife Elizaveta Petrosyan, his brother Karen Jakobyan, Karen Jakobyan's wife, daughters, and Vahe Jakobyan's parents—with a total of nine immovable properties, three vehicles, and one share in a legal entity on behalf of the Republic of Armenia.
The total amount of confiscated property is estimated at 122 million 614 thousand drams, including two bonds worth a total of 741 thousand USD, two deposits totaling 240 thousand USD, and a remaining balance of 4 billion 524 million 816 thousand drams of illegally obtained monetary funds. Furthermore, it includes 2 billion 814 million 926 thousand drams, which remains unexplained by the person's legal income, has illegal origins, been transferred to a bona fide acquirer, or is impossible to identify and confiscate.
