The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, has announced that the UN could inevitably find itself on the brink of financial collapse if countries do not begin to pay their mandatory contributions.
According to him, the debts of the member states of the organization have reached $1.6 billion. At the same time, Reuters reports that the UN is facing challenges due to a sharp cut in voluntary funding from its largest donor, the United States.
