We Have Already Made Our Choice: Ararat Mirzoyan
Today in Brussels, a discussion was held in the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan. Mirzoyan presented significant changes that have occurred since the previous meeting in this format, particularly regarding the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and recent developments.
A detailed discussion was held on the implementation of agreements reached towards unblocking regional communications and existing achievements. The importance of ensuring an inclusive network for transport and economic connectivity was emphasized.
Addressing Armenia’s ambitious agenda for democratic reforms, Mirzoyan stated, “The choice lies between sovereign democracy or an authoritarian path leading to subservience, and we have already made our choice.”
Mirzoyan and members of the European Parliament exchanged thoughts on prospects for deepening Armenia-EU relations, emphasizing the existing strong readiness to implement the strategic agenda of the partnership.
The Minister responded to questions regarding international and regional developments, hybrid threats, and efforts to respond effectively to them. The parliamentarians praised Armenia's commitment and role in promoting the peace agenda as well as advancing democratic reforms.
The head of Armenia’s foreign policy department expressed gratitude for the consistent support shown by the European Parliament on key issues for Armenia.
