Lawyer Aram Vardevanyan writes:
“The majority of the Constitutional Court’s composition has changed during the period following 2018. Under these changes, the Constitutional Court recently stated: the existence of alternative measures of restraint in criminal proceedings is an important guarantee of HUMANITY and justice. By this stance, the Constitutional Court emphasizes that detention should be an extreme measure, not the most common one. Regardless of this position, all high-profile public cases are accompanied by detentions, at best, house arrests. This is a well-known fact for everyone. This is not humanity; this is not justice. Detention cannot be a punishment, and the courts have all the means to eliminate it. Remove the supremacy of detention. Freedom for all political prisoners…”
