I No Longer Feel Obligated to Think Only About Peace: Trump
The President of the United States has sent a letter to the Prime Minister of Norway, stating that he no longer feels "obligated to think exclusively about peace" after Norway "decided not to award" him the Nobel Peace Prize. Meanwhile, European leaders are calling Trump's threat to impose new tariffs on countries that have chosen to defend Greenland "wrong."
"NATO has been telling Denmark for 20 years, 'You need to eliminate the Russian threat in Greenland.' Unfortunately, Denmark has been unable to do anything about it. Now is the time, and it will be done!!!" Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth.
He has questioned Denmark's rights over Greenland, saying, "Everything depends on the fact that hundreds of years ago, one ship arrived there, but we have also brought ships there." Trump insists that Greenland is vital for U.S. security, and that Washington will acquire the territory "for better or worse." The island's location between North America and the Arctic makes it ideal for the installation of early warning systems for missile attacks and for monitoring navigation in the region.
At the same time, European leaders note that the U.S. has crossed a line by threatening to raise tariffs. The United Kingdom has expressed its opposition to Trump's plans, and the EU threatens to respond with countermeasures.
