Araqchin Denies Reports of Mass Casualties During Protests
The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchin has denied allegations of mass casualties during ongoing protests in the country, attributing the killings to an "Israeli conspiracy." He made this statement in an interview with Fox News.
In response to estimates from Western media indicating casualties ranging from 2,500 to 12,000, Araqchin stated that those numbers are "hundreds." He claimed that the majority of the violence stems from terrorist elements that have infiltrated the protests, which have "started firing on police and civilians to increase the death toll and draw the United States into the conflict."
"President Trump has said he will intervene if there are killings. And they wanted to draw him in. This was undoubtedly an Israeli conspiracy," the minister asserted.
He also insisted that the authorities are fully controlling the situation and do not plan to carry out mass executions of protesters, emphasizing that the atmosphere in the country is currently "calm."
