U.S. Actions in Venezuela Constitute Gross Violation of International Law: Lavrov
Russia's fundamental assessment of U.S. actions in Venezuela remains unchanged. It constitutes a gross violation of international law, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“Our position remains unchanged. This position is fundamental and is based on the principles of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, whose governments, of course, represent the interests of the entire population. Venezuela was precisely such a state, and therefore our fundamental assessment regarding the illegal actions undertaken by the United States remains in effect. This is shared by the overwhelming majority of countries in the world, particularly those from the South and the East,” Lavrov remarked.
“Only Western Europeans and other Washington allies shamefully attempt to evade giving fundamental assessments, despite the fact that it is clear to everyone that this is a gross violation of international law,” he added.
