I Really Want to Rest: Zelensky on His Plans After the War's End
Zelensky agrees to hold a referendum regarding a free economic zone in Donbas, contingent on the mutual withdrawal of troops. “I think the compromise is that we will create the free economic zone we have, and we will need to retreat a few kilometers. This means that Russia will have to step back a few kilometers in small increments... This free economic zone will have special rules. A referendum like this is a means to either accept or reject it,” the Ukrainian president said in an interview with Fox News.
Trump’s plan requires Ukraine to withdraw its troops from the remaining areas of Donbas, where Russia does not station its forces but exerts administrative control.
Speaking of his plans after the war, Zelensky emphasized, “I really want to rest.”
