Azerbaijan Issues Statement Regarding AZAL Plane Crash
Azerbaijan has published information in connection with the anniversary of the AZAL plane crash, regarding the preliminary statement released by Kazakhstan. According to the information, in compliance with ICAO requirements, Kazakhstan issued a preliminary report on February 4 of this year, reflecting only verified facts without any analysis or conclusions.
Azerbaijan asserts that the report from the Kazakh side, as well as the joint conclusion of experts from Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Brazil, and ICAO, clarifies that the aircraft lost control and crashed not due to any technical malfunction but as a result of external interference, specifically direct collision.
The statement mentions that the investigation into the crash of the Embraer 190-100 IGW passenger aircraft is ongoing, based on the 13th Annex of the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation. The investigation is being conducted by the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, with the participation of representatives from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Azerbaijan, Brazil, and Russia.
In addition to this investigation, the investigative bodies of three countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Russia) are also conducting a criminal investigation into the incident within their respective jurisdictions.
