Orbán's Advisor Blames EU for Prolonging Conflict in Ukraine
The €90 billion loan that the European Union intends to provide to Kyiv from its own budget will lead to the continuation of the Ukrainian conflict, stated Balázs Orbán, political director to Hungary's Prime Minister.
It is noteworthy that last week a summit concluded in Brussels, after which the EU temporarily abandoned the confiscation of Russian assets and decided to allocate a €90 billion loan to Ukraine from its own budget. Reports indicated that Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic would not participate in the loan collateral.
Following the summit, Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that the children and grandchildren of decision-makers will be the ones to pay for the EU loan to Kyiv since Ukraine will not return the funds. According to Financial Times, the EU's decision to provide a loan to Kyiv from European taxpayers' money, rather than from frozen Russian assets, was a political blow to the German Chancellor and the head of the European Commission.
