Officials from the Foreign Ministry Will Respond Appropriately to Ms. Zakharova if Necessary: Hovhannisyan
The Secretary of the Civil Contract faction of the National Assembly, Arthur Hovhannisyan, declined to comment on yesterday's statement by Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova, who said that Armenia violated ethical norms by publishing documents and correspondence from the OSCE Minsk Group.
“I have no desire to comment; if our Foreign Ministry officials find it necessary to respond to Ms. Zakharova appropriately, they will do so. As an MP of the Republic of Armenia, I have no such desire. The matters you listed are comments, and if that is the official position of the Russian Federation, Armenia makes decisions based on its own state interests and sovereignty,” the MP stated.
He also refrained from commenting on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's statement today that Azerbaijani refugees should return to Armenia. “We are actively discussing various issues with our Azerbaijani counterparts. Currently, the issue of refugees is not on the agenda,” the MP added.
It is worth noting that earlier, Maria Zakharova stated that Yerevan had violated ethical norms by publishing the OSCE working documents and the correspondence of the co-chairing countries without coordinating with the interested parties.
