Azerbaijan Makes Several Statements Regarding Armenia: Hajiyev
During a press briefing at the Azerbaijani embassy in Brussels, Assistant to the President Hikmet Hajiyev presented Baku's position on cooperation in the fields of EU relations, energy, and regional security.
In a conversation with EU Today, Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan's current agenda is framed as a transition from "victory in war to victory in peace" in the South Caucasus.
He stated that discussions have centered around the "Zangezur corridor," which is linked to both Azerbaijan's post-conflict strategy and the goals of deepening ties with the European Union.
He added that the construction of the Azerbaijani section of the "corridor" is expected to be completed by 2026.
Hajiyev emphasized that Baku would also like to see the EU as part of this new transportation structure, including within the framework of the EU's "Global Gateway" initiative.
"The war is over for Azerbaijan, and the conflict has ended. We need to strengthen peace and make it lasting," he said.
In this context, Hajiyev highlighted that Armenia could transform from a "dead end" into a transit country, as East-West and North-South connections are expanding.
