Emergency Medical Services Struggled with Losses 2-3 Years Ago, Lacked Equipment and Ambulances – Avinyan
During a working consultation held at the Yerevan City Hall, Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced that the quality of the emergency medical services has significantly improved, which, according to him, is evident from citizens' comments.
Avinyan noted that a previous loss of 141 million drams has been transformed into a profit of 168 million drams. The Mayor reminded that during the initial consultations, only 78 percent of emergency calls were serviced, which raised concerns. According to him, this issue is no longer a topic of discussion, and it is expected that 100 percent of calls should be serviced.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Health has initiatives aimed at modernizing the national emergency medical services. According to Avinyan, Yerevan's experience can serve as an effective basis for a specific transformation of the service.
At the same time, he mentioned that this does not imply transferring the capital's services to another structure but rather collaborating on a unified platform to integrate the overall coverage.
The Mayor recalled that 2-3 years ago, the service's response to emergency calls was only 65-70 percent, the service operated at a loss, there was insufficient equipment, the fleet was incomplete, and both emergency vehicles and cashless payment systems were lacking, along with the integration of the digitized Armed System.
