DOGE Department Shuts Down Operations
The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency under President Donald Trump (DOGE) has been dissolved eight months ahead of its mandate's expiration. This department symbolized Trump’s promise to downsize the government’s workforce, as reported by Reuters.
“It no longer exists,” stated Scott Cooper, director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), in response to inquiries about DOGE's status.
It is noteworthy that representatives from Trump's administration did not publicly announce DOGE's existence had come to an end, even after the public dispute between Musk and Trump in May. Since then, Musk has left Washington. However, Trump and his team had been publicly discussing its dissolution since the summer of this year, despite the president having previously signed an executive order during his term that mandated the department's functions to continue until July 2026.
