Perpetrators of Violence to be Required to Wear Electronic Monitoring Devices: Details
The National Assembly has adopted in the second reading and fully the package of legislative drafts on amendments to the law on "Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence and Protection of Persons Affected by Family and Domestic Violence" and amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The project was presented by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan, who noted the forms of accountability for refusal to wear electronic monitoring devices, as well as details regarding the enforcement date of the legislation and other specifics.
According to the proposed legislative package, a perpetrator of violence will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device for both emergency interventions and the implementation of protective orders. Avoiding or refusing to wear the electronic monitoring device will lead to responsibilities as stipulated by law.
The regulation will come into force on March 1, 2026.
