Trump to Intervene in Thailand-Cambodia Border Tensions
US President Donald Trump, during a phone conversation with the Prime Minister of Thailand, expressed his readiness to support the advancement of a peaceful process with Cambodia amid escalating tensions along the bilateral border.
The Thai government leader emphasized that the country is committed to peace but pointed out that Cambodia must take responsibility for the tensions in the border area.
Trump noted that the US and Malaysia are prepared to assist the parties in moving forward with the peaceful process. Following the conversation, the Prime Minister of Thailand also held a phone call with the Malaysian government leader.
It is noteworthy that earlier, Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused Cambodia of violating provisions of a joint declaration, stating that Cambodia had placed anti-personnel mines within Thai territory.
