I Have Asked Zelensky to Ensure Fewer Young Ukrainians Come to Germany: Merz
The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, has announced that he told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday that fewer young Ukrainians should come to Germany as refugees, as reported by AFP.
"I have asked the President of Ukraine to ensure that young people from Ukraine do not come to Germany in increasing numbers, but rather serve their country. They are needed there," Merz said.
Merz also stated that Germany's social security regulations will soon be modified to reduce the payments provided to Ukrainian refugees, thereby creating more incentives for them to find work. "The benefits allocated for these refugees will be structured in a way that work incentives will outweigh the incentives to remain in the social security system," he said.
