New Draft to Regulate Payments by the European Court: Andreyasyan
The Parliament is discussing a draft amendment to the law on "The Representative for International Legal Issues," which pertains to the procedure for payment of compensations determined by the European Court's rulings.
According to the representative for international legal issues, Karen Andreyasyan, the draft aims to establish an enabling norm allowing the Government to regulate the process of paying just compensations stipulated in the decisions and rulings of the European Court of Human Rights.
He noted that the payment of just compensation amounts is an unconditional obligation of Armenia; however, practical issues sometimes arise during the process of submitting necessary documents by the applicants.
Andreyasyan emphasized that the change in the law will create a normative basis for decisions adopted by the Government, clarifying the document submission and payment processes, thereby ensuring the proper implementation of the European Court's rulings.
