University Lecturer Dismissed for Engaging in Hourly Work: Zhanna Andreasian
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasian, has addressed the case of the dismissed associate professor Sahak Manukyan, stating that he had been engaged in hourly work at the university.
According to Andreasian, the ministry received a complaint regarding the lecturer and forwarded it to the university for investigation. She emphasized that this issue is not an isolated incident but pertains to a pattern of behavior. “Education must provide knowledge and skills. Engaging in hourly work at a university should not be allowed,” the minister remarked.
She added that students should be demanding and should not tolerate behavior that does not align with the educational process. The minister also condemned instances of targeting students, highlighting their right to voice issues pertaining to the academic environment.
It is worth mentioning that Sahak Manukyan announced his dismissal, indicating that he plans to challenge the rector's decision in court.
