Fake Accounts Using Officials' Names: NSS Takes Measures
Incidents of unauthorized access, alteration, destruction, or interference with citizens' computer data through various online platforms have increased recently, according to the National Security Service (NSS).
Specifically, cases have been reported where individuals engage in fraud or breach of trust to steal from the public, unlawfully access information classified as bank secrets, and exploit the positions or authorities of different state institution employees for personal gain, harming state or service interests. This includes coercing public officials into actions or inactions to obtain information, leading to various forms of deceptive communications via internet messaging applications, particularly WhatsApp, under the names of different officials.
To avoid such fraudulent activities, citizens are urged to remain vigilant. These incidents are under constant monitoring by the NSS of the Republic of Armenia, and appropriate measures are being implemented to identify and hold accountable those suspected of committing such crimes.
