Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has addressed the topic of ending his career with the Armenian national team in his autobiography. The player has not fully disclosed the reasons behind this decision.

"My wonderful journey with the national team lasted almost fifteen years and ended on November 14, 2021, in Yerevan, with a 1:4 loss to Germany. People did not know at that time that it was my last game. The official announcement came just a few days later. However, I already felt it was time. Not because I didn't feel I belonged, but because I understood that I was exactly where I needed to be.

I was very worried about the fans who still write to me and ask me to return. But I couldn’t and didn’t want to come back. One day I will publicly explain why. Until then, I will just say that I never argued with my teammates in the locker room, did not raise my voice, and did not show any disrespect. Every time I wore the Armenian shirt, I felt proud," he stated.
