US Pressure Will Not Affect Energy Agreements with Russia
The attempts by the United States to force China to stop purchasing Russian energy resources will not affect the agreements signed between the countries, a representative from China's permanent mission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump, speaking at the UN General Assembly, labeled China and India as the "main sponsors" of the Ukrainian conflict for their economic cooperation with Russia.
"No, I do not think so," said Li Yihong, the charge d'affaires at China's WTO mission, when asked if the US stance would impact the energy agreements between the two countries. He stated that the relationship between Russia and China is comprehensive and deep, "this has been recognized and reaffirmed at the highest level."
"This is not a new interpretation from the US, and China has already responded to it," the Chinese representative added.
