We Removed Serzh Sargsyan Without Violence, We Approach the Question of Ktritch Nersisyan More Delicately: Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that they removed Serzh Sargsyan without any violence, questioning how it would be possible to remove Ktritch Nersisyan without such actions now that they hold a mandate to manage the country.
During a press briefing after the 7th congress of the Civil Contract party, he remarked, 'Now we approach this issue more delicately than we did during the Velvet Revolution of 2018.'
Pashinyan also addressed the subject of Father Aram and the ongoing discussions about him being viewed as a potential next Catholicos. 'I admire the work of such clergymen and welcome it, but a married priest cannot be a Catholicos. I believe that after the removal of Ktritch Nersisyan, the church should clarify its future actions without political interference. They should decide their position regarding the institution of celibacy. If they intend to maintain it, they must ensure that it is preserved. Celibacy isn’t optional, I’m afraid, so we either take it seriously or we will constantly face the consequences of this issue,' said the Prime Minister.
