Three Fighters Entered Our Airspace, Unprecedented: Estonia Complains to Russia

The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the temporary chargé d'affaires of Russia in Estonia to deliver a protest note regarding the violation of Estonia's airspace on September 19. This information was reported on the ministry's website.

The incursion occurred over the Gulf of Finland, where three MiG-31 fighters from the Russian Federation entered Estonia's airspace without permission and remained there for a total of 12 minutes.

“Russia has already violated Estonia’s airspace four times this year, which is unacceptable in itself. However, today’s incursion, during which three fighters entered our airspace, is unprecedented. The growing volume of border checks and increasing aggression from Russia must be responded to,” said Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.

Additionally, unexpected exercises of the Estonian defense forces have begun, aimed at responding to airspace violations.
