Araghchin and Jean-Noel Baron Discuss Resumption of Sanctions Against Tehran
The foreign ministers of Iran and France, Abbas Araghchin and Jean-Noel Baron, have discussed the escalating tensions during a phone conversation, during which Tehran rejected Europe’s "countermeasures," labeling them illegal and emphasizing that diplomacy is the only solution. This was reported by Mehr news agency.
Baron expressed concern over the current dynamics of the tension and highlighted the importance of maintaining space for dialogue and returning to a diplomatic path.
Araghchin firmly rejected the activation of the so-called "snapback" mechanism by European countries in the UN Security Council, calling it devoid of any political or legal legitimacy and an action that will only escalate the crisis and instability.
Reaffirming the strictly peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program, the Iranian foreign minister reminded of the recent agreement reached between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
