Trump Threatens Additional Tariffs to Countries Imposing Digital Taxes
US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose additional import tariffs and export restrictions on countries that levy different taxes or regulatory restrictions on American technology corporations. "I am warning all countries with digital taxes, laws, rules, or regulations that if these discriminatory measures are not removed, I, as President of the United States, will impose significant additional tariffs on their exports to the United States and impose export restrictions on our high-security technologies," the political figure wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.
According to Trump, he will counter those countries that are "attacking" American tech companies. "Digital taxes, legislation on digital services, and regulation of digital markets are all designed to damage or discriminate against American technologies... This must be stopped immediately," said the head of the White House.
