Mandatory Requirements Set for Armed Award Recipients
The Ministry of Internal Affairs informs that according to paragraph 7 of Article 37 of the Law on the Regulation of the Circulation of Arms, individuals awarded with weapons are required to submit the following documents to the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs within two years starting from June 1, 2023:
Document certifying the absence of conditions and diseases that impede weapon possession, as stipulated in paragraph 5 of part 11 of Article 11 of the Law on the Regulation of the Circulation of Arms, and a document regarding passing theoretical and practical exams related to weapons and safety regulations.
If the required documents are not submitted, the police will seize the weapon and return it to the owner. Individuals who fail to present the certificate of examination and medical documents by June 1, 2025, may hand over their weapon to legal entities that hold a license for the trade in civilian and service weapons, or donate it to state militarized organizations as prescribed by law.
The sale must be conducted in accordance with the procedures established by civil legislation, in the form of a sale agreement, notifying the relevant police department of the weapon’s registration place in advance. An individual may also donate the weapon to any state militarized organization; in this case, the donor submits a written notification, after which a government decision regarding the acceptance of property is issued.
