European Leaders in the U.S. Will Not Protect Zelensky from Humiliation, Rubio Says
European leaders are not coming to the United States to protect Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky from humiliation. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with CBS.
“That’s not true. They are not coming here to protect Zelensky from being humiliated. It is nonsense to say that they are coming here to prevent President Donald Trump from humiliating Zelensky,” the Secretary stated.
Rubio added that European leaders will visit the United States within the framework of their joint work. Zelensky is set to arrive in Washington on August 18, along with European leaders.
Media reports indicate that the White House leader will not meet with Zelensky in the presence of guests from Europe; instead, he will first hold one-on-one talks with the republic's president before being joined by representatives from the EU and NATO. They are expected to participate in a joint working dinner and discuss conflict resolution in an expanded format.
