The President of the European Council, Antonio Kostan, and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, held a phone conversation. According to Azerbaijan's APA agency, in reference to the signing of a declaration between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the presence of the U.S. President in Washington, the President of the European Council emphasized the importance of these outcomes for ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region. He expressed the European Union's willingness to support the implementation process of the agreements reached.
Ilham Aliyev addressed the importance of the agreement on uninterrupted transportation communication between the mainland of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan region. On August 12, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also held a phone conversation with the President of the European Council, Antonio Kostan, where he presented the results of the negotiations that took place on August 8 in Washington.
