Siranush Sahakyan Reveals Details of Baku's Sham Trial
Fake judicial sessions are taking place in Baku's military court against the leadership of Artsakh, following an Azerbaijani script and resulting in very predictable outcomes. This was stated to 168.am by Siranush Sahakyan, President of the Center for International and Comparative Law and a human rights defender.
"What is happening during these trials is not surprising to us; it is typical Azerbaijani behavior, considering the deep-seated nature of hatred and discrimination against Armenians. There is a huge disconnect between fake statements and actual state conduct, which is also noticeable to international partners. At this stage, we are observing the issue of having fabricated 'victims' and fabricated 'witnesses.' Generally, a witness should have direct knowledge of the events, and the immediate rights of victims should be addressed concerning the alleged crimes. However, in the ongoing 'trials' in Baku, we see 'witnesses' who are not only unaware of well-known incidents but also of specific facts they are testifying about," Sahakyan noted.
