UN General Assembly Approves Draft Resolution on Reforms Proposed by Russia
The UN General Assembly has unanimously approved the draft resolution proposed by the Russian Federation within the framework of the "UN-80" reform initiative, according to TASS.
The adopted document aims to enhance the efficiency of the global organization’s work in the context of escalating global challenges and a deteriorating financial situation.
Central to the resolution is the need to maintain a balanced nature of activities based on the UN Charter. Russia, emphasizing the UN's unique role in the development of international cooperation, initiated this project to ensure transparency in the reform process.
The document enshrines the central role of member states in making decisions regarding the transformation of the global organization's work. It is noted that reforms should be discussed within intergovernmental bodies rather than in a secretive format.
Prior to the resolution’s adoption, Russia organized an open negotiation process and considered proposals from all countries.
