Zakharova on Protests Against Lavrov in Yerevan
Globally speaking, I can say first that it seems to me that we commented on this entire buffoonery, all these performances that are being organized, before the visit. This was stated today, May 27, during a press briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
She responded to the question of how Armenian officials explained the involvement of persons associated with them in organizing and conducting a protest against the Russian delegation's visit to Yerevan.
"The formats are the same, the sponsors are the same, the funds come from the same sources. What else is there to explain? Well, do we not understand where all this comes from and who needs it? It should concern those who sleep and dream of how to stir up the post-Soviet states and not only them. So, what should we clarify about whose three or not three kopecks were spent? Everything is already obvious," said Zakharova.
She also addressed the question regarding the opening of the Russian consulate in Syunik. "Yes, this topic has been discussed in detail during the negotiations, and we do not need to be convinced that it is necessary to quickly start the work of the Russian external structure. Currently, there is no Russian consulate in the city of Kapan, so in order to receive an official position on why this is the case, I think this issue should be clarified with the Armenian side," noted the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Regarding Armenia's return to work in the CSTO, Zakharova stated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has already spoken on this topic. "We continue to operate on the premise that the republic is a full member of the organization with all rights and obligations; nothing has changed since the visit to Yerevan," she concluded.
