Seventh Time I Must Repeat: Audiovisual Media in Armenia is Free, Says HRA Chairman
Seventh time I must repeat that the audiovisual media in Armenia is free and independent. This was stated by the Chairman of the National Commission on Television and Radio, Tigran Hakobyan.
He presented the annual report of the Television and Radio Commission on the activities for 2024 and the state of freedom of information in the audiovisual media sector.
“Throughout 2024, we have not received any complaints from audiovisual service providers, that is, from television and radio companies or network operators, and at the end of the year, we did not even receive a negative response to our written inquiry,” said the reporter, adding, “Since the Commission does not have the authority to monitor the relationships of ‘media - media owners - funding forces,’ we do not have any information regarding freedom of information in that regard. Nevertheless, I believe that the situation there is much more grim,” said Hakobyan.
