The Dangers Are Becoming Increasingly Tangible: Tigran Abrahamyan
Current events in Armenia, the political course of the ruling authorities, and the numerous blows and damages sustained by the state as a consequence have long placed society at a crossroads—whether to come to terms with the existing realities or to fight for decent living conditions and protection in their own country. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, the secretary of the 'Honorary Duty' faction, during the announcements hour.
“On one hand, we have the false agendas and empty promises generated by the government; on the other, the escalating severe prospects surrounding Armenia, putting our citizens in a difficult position—should they leave or stay and resist? Gradually, a silent consensus is forming among the populace that the existence of this government is paving a direct path for the country to face new trials and struggles for existence. The authorities promised peace, and we got war; they promised prosperity, and we got emigration; they promised a sovereign country, and we got new occupied territories; they promised a dignified life, and we received constant humiliation.”
“There is nothing else but a categorical rejection of the capitulationist policies of the current authorities, which have severely undermined the foundations of Armenia’s sovereignty, significantly weakened the level of security, and violated our national values. We need a government in Armenia whose external and internal policies are based solely on national interests. It is impossible to reconcile with the idea that our country's vital interests are made a bargaining chip, and our continuous struggle is, first and foremost, to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately, time is passing, the dangers are becoming increasingly tangible, and the power continues to remain in the hands of opportunists and adventurers. We have no right to despair, to tire, or to raise our hands until we have neutralized the existential threat to our country and people, while the adventurers governing our country remain in power.
Of course, the path of struggle is not easy, smooth, or resolved without obstacles. We must enlarge the front of resistance, concentrate all forces on one main objective—the removal of those who terrorize our people with war and leave their fate to chance. Under the conditions of this complex regional situation and threatening external environment, there simply exists no other way to organize a prosperous, developing, and secure life,” he said.
