China Calls on US Not to Deploy Missiles near Other Countries' Borders
Beijing believes that the United States should cease actions that undermine strategic security, particularly by reducing the role of nuclear weapons in its national security policy, stopping the formation of nuclear alliances, refraining from deploying intermediate-range missiles near the borders of other countries, and halting the establishment of a global missile defense system. This was stated by Wang Yi, head of China's Foreign Ministry, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"The United States must effectively reduce the role of nuclear weapons in national security and stop actions that disrupt strategic security, such as the creation of 'nuclear alliances' through 'nuclear sharing' and 'extended nuclear deterrence,' the deployment of ground-based intermediate-range missiles and other strategic forces near the borders of other countries, and the establishment of a global missile defense system," Wang Yi said.
"We urge Washington to make serious efforts to lower nuclear war risks and achieve the goal of global denuclearization," he added.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order requiring Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth to present a detailed plan for the creation and deployment of a new generation of US missile defense systems by March 28.
