Trump Threatens Russia
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he would impose secondary tariffs on oil exports from Russia if an agreement is not reached with Moscow to cease the conflict in Ukraine, according to NBC News.
“If Russia and I cannot come to an agreement to end the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I decide that Russia is at fault, I will impose tariffs on oil exported from Russia,” the television station quoted the American leader.
Trump also threatened that importers of Russian oil would face consequences under such circumstances. “This would mean that if you buy oil from Russia, you won't be able to do business in the U.S.,” he stated.
The American leader specified that he plans to set tariffs on Russian oil ranging from 25% to 50%.
He also added that he plans to call President Vladimir Putin again soon.
