Tariffs on Foreign Cars: Trump's New Decision
Donald Trump has announced a plan to impose a 25% tariff on foreign cars. “We are going to impose a 25% tariff on all cars not made in the United States. We start with the 2.5% base tariff that we currently have and move to 25%,” said the U.S. President.
The announcement was immediately condemned by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who called it a “direct attack” on Canadian workers. “We will protect our workers, we will protect our companies, we will protect our country, and we will do it together,” Carney warned.
The tariffs will go into effect on April 2, and the U.S. will begin collecting them the following day. “This is very exciting,” Trump said.
