Greenland Is Important to Us, We Must Get It, Says Trump
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that American politicians will visit Greenland this week to demonstrate the necessity of the island for international security. “So they understand that we need Greenland for international security. We need it, we must get it,” he stated during an interview on the Vince podcast, responding to questions regarding the purpose of the delegation's visit.
The U.S. President expressed uncertainty about whether the inhabitants of Greenland desire to become U.S. citizens. However, he believes they should be convinced that joining the United States is a good idea.
Earlier reports indicated that a U.S. delegation, including U.S. Vice President’s wife Usha Vance, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Energy Secretary Chris Wright, would arrive on the island from Thursday to Saturday. It was announced on Tuesday that the Vice President himself, J.D. Vance, would also join the delegation.
Both the island and Denmark, to which it belongs, view the upcoming visit as a pressure tactic by the U.S.
