Trump and Putin Likely to Meet, Whitkoft Says
The special envoy of the U.S. President, Steve Whitkoft, announced that negotiations surrounding the proposed 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on March 23. Whitkoft expressed hope that Ukraine would agree to halt attacks.
This information was discussed during a conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. “Both sides of the ceasefire are already agreed upon by the Russians. The EU hopes that the Ukrainians will agree with them; of course, there are certain details that need to be worked on, but all that will begin on Sunday,” the special envoy stated.
He did not clarify whether Ukraine would be present at these negotiations, only mentioning that the U.S. delegation would be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
Whitkoft also noted that Trump and Putin are likely to meet, with the venue being Saudi Arabia.
