No Easy Negotiations Expected, U.S. Leadership
The U.S. leadership does not expect easy negotiations regarding a resolution in Ukraine, but they hope for an agreement from Moscow on a 30-day ceasefire. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a press briefing with journalists. The broadcast was conducted by Fox News.
“We have Ukraine ready to sit at the negotiating table, now we need Russia to do the same. No one here pretends that these negotiations will be simple, quick, or straightforward. But at least we have reached this point,” he said.
In response to a journalist's question about what the U.S. would do if Russia refused to agree to the ceasefire, the Secretary of State stated that Washington first needs to assess the current situation.
