Democratic Attorneys General File Lawsuit Against Musk and Trump
Democratic attorneys general from 14 U.S. states have filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk and President Donald Trump. NBC News reports that they claim Musk’s authority within the agency violates the Constitution of the United States.
“Our country’s founders would be appalled to know that the people are now at the mercy of a billionaire’s whims,” said Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes.
The attorneys general assert that Trump has violated the Constitution’s provisions regarding appointments. The states filing the lawsuit seek a court ruling that prohibits Musk from making changes to government funding, terminating contracts with federal employees, and more.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt called the lawsuit “a continuation of the weaponization of justice against President Trump.”
“The White House will continue to pursue these matters in court, and we expect to be vindicated,” she stated in a press release.
