Google Renames the Gulf of Mexico

Google has renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. This was announced in the company’s statement.

It is noted that Google had indicated that when the appropriate update occurs in the geographic naming information system of the country, the name Gulf of America will appear in the Google Maps service.

Users in the United States accessing Google Maps will see the name Gulf of America, while those in Mexico will continue to see the Gulf of Mexico name; other users will see both versions, with one written in parentheses.
