Erdogan Calls for Serious Preparedness for Possible Earthquakes in Turkey
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for serious preparedness for potential emergencies in Istanbul and other provinces of Turkey, against the backdrop of increased seismic activity in the Aegean Sea. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
“The recent seismic activity in Greek territories has once again reminded us of the importance of our work and that being prepared for earthquakes is a crucial issue for our country. Local administrations should prepare cities for earthquakes through urban transformation projects, rather than pursuing political interests,” Erdogan stated in a message to the public following a cabinet meeting.
Erdogan emphasized that there is no alternative to making Turkey's cities, especially Istanbul, earthquake-resistant.
