Yemeni Houthis Group to Be Designated as a Terrorist Organization by the US: Trump
President Donald Trump has announced that the Yemeni Houthis group, known as "Ansar Allah," will be designated as a terrorist organization by the United States.
The text of the directive states that since 2023, the Houthis have repeatedly attacked US Navy vessels with the support of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In 2014, the Houthis launched numerous assaults on civilian infrastructure, including multiple attacks on Saudi Arabia's civilian airports.
"The actions of the Houthis threaten the safety of American civilians and personnel in the Middle East, the safety of our regional partners, and the stability of global maritime trade," the document reads.
According to the directive, the US Secretary of State is required to report to the President through the National Security Council within 30 days regarding the inclusion of "Ansar Allah" in the list of foreign terrorist organizations. Following the report, all actions necessary to designate the organization as a terrorist group must be executed within 15 days.
