We Must Be Present at Ukraine Negotiations: French Foreign Minister
France must take part in any negotiations regarding peace in Ukraine. This statement was made by the head of the French Foreign Ministry, Jean-Noël Barrault.
The minister was asked whether Paris is ready to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin, recalling that the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump announced the possibility of negotiations.
"We have always said that if the Ukrainians wish it, at some point Russia could be involved in the negotiations, we have no taboos regarding this. The important thing is that France is part of any negotiations regarding European security. What is happening today in Ukraine pertains to the territorial integrity of that country, but it also touches on the security interests of Europe," the minister noted.
